PASSOVER AND THE KINGDOM
by MF Blume

When Jesus was rejected the day He rode into Jerusalem as her King, it was about the time of PASSOVER, in John 12:

John 12:1 GNB Six days before the Passover, Jesus went to Bethany, the home of Lazarus, the man he had raised from

death.

(Mary breaks the alabaster box and anoints Jesus’ feet.

Judas complains.)

John 12:12-14 KJV On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming

to Jerusalem, (13) Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King

of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. (14) And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is

written,

MATTHEW 21 picks up on this and adds more information.

Matthew 21:2-5 KJV Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied,

and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. (3) And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The

Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. (4) All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was

spoken by the prophet, saying, (5) Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting

upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

Zechariah 9:9 KJV Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh

unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Matthew 21:9 KJV And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of

David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

Philippians 1:12

Philippians 1:12 KJV  But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;

Philippians 1:12 AMPLIFIED  Now I want you to know and continue to rest assured, brethren, that what [has happened] to me [this imprisonment] has actually only served to advance and give a renewed impetus to the [spreading of the] good news (the Gospel).

Philippians 1:12 THE MESSAGE  I want to report to you, friends, that my imprisonment here has had the opposite of its intended effect.  Instead of being squelched, the Message has actually prospered.

Philippians 1:12 Weymouth  Now I would have you know, brethren, that what I have gone through has turned out to the furtherance of the Good News rather than otherwise.

I.                    INTRODUCTION—A STORY FROM THE HOLOCAUST

James von Moltke came from a long line of German warriors and soldiers.  For two centuries the name Moltke resounded proudly in the history of the Prussians and Germans.  But James would serve a different fate.  He was just as brave and just as devoted but his devotions were to Jesus Christ and His Word and it would put him at odds with the Fuhrer, Adolph Hitler.
